Danzig is a big framed filly with a pretty face and double features for dressage and jumping due to the fact that her pedigree includes several of the most popular German bloodlines (Donnerhall, Ramiro, Gotthard) as well as Perser xx through our 1a grandma Piroschka.
This filly has great gaits and might end at 17+ hh. Her dam SPS Farfadet and sire Don Bosco can be seen here.
May 2002 update: We've decided not to start Danzig under saddle before next year as she needs time to grow into herself. She is now standing about 16.3 hands and has recently been taken through her first free jump session. She takes new challanges serious but with confidence and shows good balance already. Danzig also presents a good work ethic and wants to please so we look forward to further working with her and evaluate her potential for the jumpers.
October 2002 update: Work will start for Danzig in Early January. Please check back for training updates early in 2003!
February 2003 update: Danzig has now been in training with Kareen since January 7 and both have already bonded to the extend that makes it hard to let go. Danzig was first backed on February 18 and capable of doing wtc in the indoor on February 20. First after-work hack took place on February 21 to everybody's pleasure. This mare has developed so nicely during barely 8 weeks of training it is hard to believe. Please have a look at our most recent pictures that have been taken at her 4th lose jumping session. Kareen had a hard time selecting pictures as each jump pretty much looked like the other. We're very proud of Danzig.
This mare will suit a picky, sensible rider with high demands and need for a true partner to master any task life will bring.
We sadly put her for sale. Price is reflecting her suffering from mild shivering syndrome that does definitely not appear to limit her performance. It is however a fact that will prevent her from entering Riehe Farm's broodmareband and leads to her beginning a sport horse carreer.
Danzig has always been sound and is used to being out in a herd 24/7 as well as in a boxstall working under 'civilized surroundings'.
Price is subject to go up significantly after her first shows and mare performance test.
March 1 update: Danzig has been sat on for 6 times now and already willingly does wtc with good balance. She is in the process of being registered as a show horse and soon begin a show career in young horse classes. She shows a lot of go and presence under saddle as can be expected from her bloodlines. Trot and canter are picture perfect, walk is improving but will remain a weak point. We'll keep you posted.
March 22 update: First jumping session under saddle was great fun (see pics). Danzig is in the process of being registered as a show horse as well as participate in her MPT and inspection process. Considering Rodewalkd, Stadthagen or Hoya as potential sites and will update this site regularly.
May 29 update: Danzig was extremely well behaved at her first show. No spook in the dressage ring, no attempts to stop in the jumper ring. She stood up against tough competition incl. stallions at Pr. Ströhen earning her first placing in a material class. Please notice increased price asking result of proceeding under saddle training.
