This was Djibouti's sales describtion in 2000:
Djibouti is a hunter type tall filly with elegant appearance and lovely character. Her dam SPS Alliage received a total score of 7.78 passing her mare performance test and was part of our in our 'best family in show' award-winning family in 1996. She has big fluent movement and her disposition will be all kinds of competition or breeding as well.
'JuJu' was sold and imported to the US in 2000 by Dana Frank of Oklahoma who raised and trained her to resell.
September 2003 update provided by Dana: I saw JuJu this week at a show I was at in Waco, Texas. She looks amazing. She's close to 17 hands now and just as sweet, trusting and brave as she has always been. The people who have her just adore her, and they are showing her very sparingly (just enough to get her some mileage).
They took her to a show in North Carolina earlier this year at the Biltmore Estate. It's a huge show with lots of East coast hunter trainers there. Anyway, JuJu was Reserve Champion in the Baby Green Hunters there out of 40 some-odd horses. They also did a show with her in Lexington, Kentucky at the Kentucky Horse Park. There, she got excellent ribbons (2nds, 3rds, etc.) out of 60+ horses in the Baby Green division. This week, the show was relatively small (about 20 in the Baby Green Hunters), but JuJu won the Hack and wound up Champion in the Baby Greens. This show also offered a 3 & 4 Year Old Hunter Futurity. There weren't a ton in it (like 10), but JuJu won that class.
2008 update: JuJu is now showing under the name Jibouti and is leading the finals in Zone 6 under Alison Golden who has owned her for 3+ years! Congratulations to both as well as their trainer Kim Barone of Raven-Ridge-Farms, Mn! Year's end points for zone 6 in 2008.JuJu's complete 2008 show results
