biography

Escudo, bred by Mr. Allmer Knoop, Loxstedt, is serving at Celle State Stud. Already at 1993 licensing his outstanding talent for jumping became obvious. He kept in good shape and won his stallions performance test with top indices in jumping. By now he has produced 42 foals for Verden elite auction as well as 23 states premium mares or candidates (SPS/SPA) out of 52 registered broodmares and several candidates for Verden elite riding horse auction. According to hanoverian stallion yearbook by Dr. Ludwig Christmann Escudo is currently ranking 5th out of all Hanoverian approved sires for passing typiness and riding horse points in his offspring. Also he is put rank 16 for improving his progeny's jumping technique and ability.
These rankings are based on data taken from mares inspections and mare performance tests and is therefor 'up to date' and faster than the FN ranking based on the progeny's success in competitions. His scores in terms of improving the breed are in detail: breeding type and riding horse points: 163, conformation of limbs: 160, dressage ability (incl. basic gaits and rideability): 104, jumping: 146
Escudo's latest hit has been at Verden lose jumping contest (see HANNOVERANER issue Aprill/2000) where his Escada, bred by W.Berg, Burgdorf won her class getting an incredible total score of 8.85. He has also produced four hanoverian licensed sons by now.
Escudo's sire Esprit needs no introduction and Eiger I, Hanoverian sire of the year 2000 is known by anyone interested in breeding German jumpers anyway. See Escudo's daughter Esperanza who is in foal to Ravallo for her first foal in 2002.
According to FN yearbook 2000 Escudo is currently holding a jumping index of amazing 130 with no more than 51 children in competition.

October 2001 update: Escudo I is recently landing one hit after the other. At first 4 yo Escudo I - daughter Etoscha (dam by Raphael) won the hanoverian jumper championates at Dobrock with Embassy (by Escudo - Silvio) placing second, then two Escudo I - sons, El Bundy and Etrusco to name them - do it again at the Celle State Stud performance test this fall at Adelheidsdorf: El Bundy wins and Etrusco placed second.
