biography

Bred by Harry Bartsch in Göttingen Hohenstein became a proven stallion in 1995. From 1995 to 97 the Celle State Stud set up a special agreement with Burkhard Wahler from Klosterhof Medingen to allow Hanoverian breeders to use this impressing sire on particularly affordable conditions. Today he is only available at Klosterhof. Passing stallions performance test (HLP) at Adelheidsdorf in 1994 he proved the greatest expectations and was overall second-champion as well as best in dressage part due to his anytime balanced movement and sensitivity on the finest aids.
To count up his own and his famous ancestors records would take too long and also would inflate breeding success which is so hard work to get. Therefore I only recommend to visit Klosterhof to see him physically.
His first crop immediately catched the breeders interest on both sides the Trakehner as well as the Hanoverian for being not only outstanding types but also well conformed and enticing with three excellent basic gaits.
In addition to his carreer as a sire Hohenstein made it to the finals of German Bundeschampionat (Warendorf) in 1995 and endet third best among the finest selection of four years old German bred riding horses. Besides he got the title Trakehner champion. He has won his first S-level dressage competition at only seven years old and continues to win and place in this highest grade of national tournaments system. His current lifetime earnings in competition are close to $6.000 at this time.

With no less than 10 licensed stallions among them the winner of stallions licensing and most expensive horse at Trakehner Eliteauction 1999 Münchhausen. One year later Global Player put a spell on the audience being sold at $170.000. At the same time Donauweise has been purchased at the highest price as a broodmare at $45.000 and proved her sires status as a producer of top class horses in a row.

We are proud to own a daughter looking so similar to him Hannelore.

Update:

Verden fall auction candidate Habitus (vice Bundeschampion at Warendorf 2000) sold at 320,000 DM, at the same auction Highway by Hohenstein sold at 150,000 DM. Another example of desirable Hohenstein offspring.
