Wabash (barn name Womble) was born after two failed attempts to get Piroschka in foal to the famous Watzmann. Wabash is a 3/4 realtive to Walldorf another representative of the Watzmann - Perser xx cross who was standing at stud at Ludwig Kathmann prior to his importation to the US where he is known as a producer of outstanding Sporthorses and takes advantage of the TB mare base available in NA. Walzerkönig, another Watzmann-son will always live in our rememberance as one of the most successful show jumpers at his time.
Some day it finally worked out to get Piroschka in foal to Watzmann. Womble was carefully started by Kareen in 1995.
Then he tragically got hurt in a fence at 4 years old. Fortunately nothing was broken and no joint concerned just meat that was gone down to the bone bad enough. However it healed perfect after a long period of extended care.
As he won't sell for what he is worth with that huge scar on his hindleg, he decided to be Kareen's fun riding horse. She doesn't show actually due to her schedule at vet school so most of the time Womble serves as the teasing stallion and schoolmaster for the young colts on the pasture.
Although he got never approved several people used Wabash for breeding after they've seen him under saddle. By now he has live covered 4 mares resulting in 4 very nice foals: Among them a very nice Classiker mare who didn't get pregnant for two seasons. They got a very nice filly that is now a two years old. His 2000 foal Wolga out of Banja Luca is now owned by Riehe Farm. This year a friend picked 'Womble' for his outstanding jumper mare by Godehard. This mare has produced several FEI level jumpers before so we're very curius what the outcome will be.
