Dom Perignon is the second foal of Riehe Farm's Grace and was purchased as a weanling by professional dressage rider Mrs. Maucher from Ohlendorf, Germany who campaigned him during his first show season and resold via Verden Elite auction in fall 2002. The Mauchers have been taken by his huge neckset and suppleness he already had in the place at very young age. Mrs. Maucher reported him to have an exellent work ethic and show tremendous ability for dressage work:
After riding him for 6 times she felt like he had learned enough for his young age as he did walk trot and canter correctly so got eventually moved back into the field for the summer to grow into himself. He then began his show career in the dressage ring in 2002, needless to say we will curiously keep a track on him.
November 2005 update: Dom Perignon has upgraded to PSG/Inter I and placed himself 2nd at the Baden-Würtemberg Eliteshow scoring as high as 70.41% in the Inter I. They were only beaten by Isabell Werth showing one of her prospects. We're proud and happy. Thanks to Pieter van der Raadt and owner Hannah Dopf for the great work!
2007 update: Congratulations to Hannah Dopf and Dom Perignon on winning the final M-level freestyle test at Schutterwald (Baden-Würtemberg dressage championships) scoring between 67.5 and 70.25%. This makes them 3rd in the championship after last year's silver medal. See detailed results.
2008 update: Hannah and Dom Perignon have been called into the Young Rider-Kader after being a consistant member in the Junior Kader of Baden-Württemberg and even qualifying for the German Championships this year. Well done and way to go Hanna and Peri! The two placed themselves in 3 S-level tests during their first outings at this level end of 2007.
Also Hannah's trainer Pieter van der Raadt had a brilliant season opening with Peri winning an S-level test scoring 68+% in Eppelheim Congratulations!
2010 update: Peri took a well deserved year off in 2009 and is reported to be back in full training as of January. Best wishes for the shows ahead from here!
