This black gelding is the youngest and due to the death of his sire he will be the last one in a row of three full siblings born at our Farm. He resembles his older full brother Don Falco aka Dreamcatcher who was once licensed by the Oldenburg Verband before he was sold through the Verden elite auction to Junior Kader-Rider Rebecca Dennert of Schleswig Holstein in the fall of 2002. Don Falco was 10th in the lower saxony material championate and has won various other material classes as a 3 and 4yo. He then went on to place himself in M-level young horse tests and has just recently celebrated his first victory in an adult M-level class (compares to US 3rd level) under Anja Brügge. Sire Donnerhall sadly deceased in 2002 and is known worldwide not only through his own performance career but also as 'the' dressage linekeeper of the TB Devil's Own xx. Diaghilev's dam Farfadet is a best in show titleist at mareshows and also showed successfully at the district show of Nienburg/Weser. She is our best producing mare and represents the third generation of Riehe Farm mares. Her pedigree goes back to first class Hanoverian lineage including DLG champion Firnis and is 'spiced' up with well dosed linebreeding for Abendfrieden in the back which results in a more modern look of her foals while she herself is rather the big framed producer type. Diaghilev's second older brother Da Vinci is owned by our partner Ingrid Matthiessen and currently in training with Sebastian Heinze getting ready for the 2007 show season. He too placed himself in material classes as well as A-level young horse tests as a 4yo and went on to do well during his 5yo season which involved only a few starts in order not to wear him out. Nonetheless he placed himself in an L-level young horse test (compares to US 2nd level) and is now working on his changes. Find information on Donnerhall and other Donnerhall-offspring here.
Diaghilev was slightly started under saddle during his 3yo summer and has then spent a full 12 months out in the field due to some distress on the owner's side. He was then sold and brought back into training by his new owner Alexandra who is now offering him for sale. The most recent videoclip was taken after approx. 3 months of training. This boy has a sweet forwardthinking nature and will be an excellent horse for junior riders or a petite ladyrider who likes something light that is quick off the leg.
He has always been under our supervision and has always been sound. Please check back for updated video footage.
July 2007 update: email from Lis Hollander:
'Dear Kareen, Just a quick update to let you know that Diaghilev and I have qualified for the Summer Championships on the 22nd July – only a small local competition but I am extremely proud of my boy and honored that he performs so beautifully for such a novice rider. He has been getting 8’s and 9’s for his paces and that is with me not trying to show him off but keeping it all very quiet and ordinary!!!!!
I am starting to jump him now too to give him some fun and he hacks across the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside on his own or with company as if he were a much older grown up horse.
I will let you know how we get on at the Championships and try and get some good pictures of him for you.
I thought you might want to update his record and say that he now lives in England and is most definitely NOT FOR SALE – EVER!!!! It would be nice for people to see his record and know that he is out there being really rather wonderful.
Hope all well with you and that you are having better weather than we are over here – it is awful.
Big hug to you all for us both.
Lis and Diaghilev xx'
