Betws Gogoniant was purchased at the 2009 Fayre Oaks sale. We wouldn't have dreamt of such acquisition yet happened to be in the right spot at the right time. B. Gogoniants lineage reads like a who-is-who of Mountain Pony breeding with no less than 10 Royal Welsh winners to show in the first 4 generations and performance animals to match lining up like pearls on a string: His paternal granddam Betws Nans was a winner of the Velvet-Cup under saddle in 1962 for the Ceulan Stud under Penny Rowland. Her sire Betws Flach won the Senior Stallion class in 1997 aged 9.
Dyfrdwy Seren-y-Gogledd was male champion at the RW in 2004 (not to forget his three full siblings Dyfrdwy Starlight (7-fold RW champion in harness from 1992-2002), D.Seren Arian (RW overall champion 1991 and 94) and D.Seren Fwyn (RW overall champion in 2000)). Their sire Aston Superstar needs no introduction, having won three overall championships at the RW.
Gogoniants maternal granddam is Betws Gweno, RW overall champion 1999. Coed Coch Glenda was Champion Female in 1973. Then we have Superstars sire Whatton Pennaeth who won in harness in 1970 and dam Dyfrdwy Midnight Moon who was Female champion 1972. Coed Coch Pryd won Male Champion in 1969. Brierwood Rocket II went Overall Champion twice in 1985 and 1988. Coed Coch Bari had been Overall Champion in 1974 before he went to Australia for the record breaking amount of 21,000 Guineas at the stud Dispersal in 1978. And lastly we have Bari's full brother Coed Coch Saled who sold for 14,000 Guineas.
He has got the loveliest Welsh personality and will make a fantastic pony to ride and drive.
This pony is truly bred in the purple. He is now gelded and offered for sale. A video clip is available. Gogoniant is welcome to stay with us to grow up and later start under saddle or in harness.
